A RETREAT ON MONHEGAN ISLAND, MAINE. Four hundred acres of woodland trails, cliffs, and rocky shore. Two apartments on the first floor of an island home at the edge of a small village.
All living things have a bond with land and water. Many people sense that connection more easily on Monhegan Island. The island - stark, wild, beautiful, moated by the sea in all its moods from calm to fury - has often provided a healing balm for people partaking of its natural beauty and witnessing the cycles of nature on a scale small enough to comprehend.
For more than a century Tribler Cottage has offered clean, quiet lodging from which people have started a daily exploration of Monhegan's wild-lands. Two one-bedroom apartments in a quiet house, rented by the week, for quiet people. Each apartment accommodates one or two people, has a kitchen-dining room, a private bathroom, and a living room with a private entrance. Both apartments have gas heaters. We provide sheets, towels, and utilities. There is no smoking within the building or on the grounds.
Tribler Cottage is located at the base of Lighthouse Hill, on the edge of a meadow that forms the center of the village. It is about a five-minute walk from the wharf; ten minutes from a grocery store, restaurants, and coffee shops; and a half-hour's walk along woodland trails to one of the three sea-cliffs on Monhegan's eastern shore.
