Mission/Lineage: Saint Meinrad Archabbey was founded in 1854 by monks from Einsiedeln Abbey in Switzerland. The monks’ daily lives are guided by the wisdom of the Rule of St. Benedict, sixth-century instructions for community living. The Rule was written as a guide to living life in community. It was not the first "rule" for Christian followers, but its common-sense, Scripture-based approach have stood the test of time. The monks of Saint Meinrad welcome all who wish to experience life on The Hill.
