Mountain Home Desert Retreat serves a unique function. Following its initial use as a home for errant girls, the facility is now primarily used by church groups looking to get away from the city and spend time in worship and fellowship in the desert.
A non-profit, interfaith church retreat is called Mountain Home Desert Retreat. Many of the structures on this unusual property, which was constructed in the 1930s and is tucked away in a small town in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, were constructed from local rock. The focal point of the property is the striking Chapel. It is used as a backdrop for movies and television shows in addition to being a place of worship. Numerous buildings made of rock can be found at Mountain Home Desert Retreat, where visitors can come for the day or stay the night. In fact, a few have just undergone renovations.
